Position: Payroll Manager - 9 month FTC

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations across the TPXimpact Group. You will ensure absolute accuracy, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration with our Net Suite finance system. This role requires a proactive professional who can manage accurate monthly cycles while driving process improvements and system evaluations. This role will report to the Group Financial Controller.

Responsibilities
  • Process monthly payroll for 3 legal entities (c.500 total employees) including starter/leaver adjustments, pension contributions, salary sacrifice, tax code changes and other adjustments
  • Issue payslips and timely P45s
  • Submit statutory returns including Full Payment Submissions (FPS) and Employer Payment Summary (EPS) to HMRC
  • Compile, verify, and submit annual P11DS
  • Partner with the finance team to ensure general ledger alignment and issue payroll journals for use in Netsuite finance system
  • Audit payroll outputs against HR records to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Act as the primary, supportive point of contact for employee payroll questions
  • Critically assess existing payroll processes to eliminate inefficiencies
  • Evaluate future payroll software and integration options to support company growth
  • Continuously maintain and update skills and knowledge, including UK tax laws, pension rules, and statutory regulations, to stay current within your relevant field of expertise

  • Work involves the consolidation of payrolls across group entities. The role focuses on managing data and coordinating with internal teams to ensure the payroll process runs smoothly.
  • Highly collaborative, requiring engagement with cross-functional teams across HR, Finance, Operations, and IT. Strong stakeholder engagement skills are essential to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll processes across the organisation.

  • Responsible for solving complex, non-routine payroll issues. This includes resolving discrepancies in pay, ensuring compliance with changing legislation, and leading process improvements.

  • Proactive stakeholder management to ensure smooth transitions across HR, Finance, and Operations while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and employee confidence.

About You Professional Knowledge and Experience
  • In-Depth UK Payroll Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end UK payroll processing, legislative frameworks, and statutory compliance regulations
  • HMRC Compliance: Hands-on experience managing Real Time Information (RTI) submissions, including FPS/EPS, and running detailed P32 reports
  • Benefits & Year-End Reporting: Proven track record of managing workplace pension auto-enrolment, salary sacrifice schemes, and annual P11D submissions
  • Process Optimisation & System Evaluation: Demonstrable experience reviewing legacy payroll workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and researching/evaluating new software solutions for potential future migration
Technical Skills
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables)
  • Deep understanding of HMRC regulations, pension auto-enrolment, and P11D reporting
  • Experience with Zone Payroll is desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication to explain complex payroll matters to employees
