Job Description

We’re looking for a Financial Control Manager to join our Retail Finance team, in either London, Hove or Cardiff.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strong technical financial control expertise with practical problem solving, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement. You’ll play a key role in helping maintain a robust financial control environment, supporting balance sheet integrity, strengthening governance and giving senior stakeholders confidence in financial outcomes. You’ll also have the chance to coach a junior team member and work closely with colleagues across Retail and the wider Group

What you'll be doing:
  • Supporting the Head of Financial Control in maintaining a strong and consistent financial control environment across Retail Finance
  • Leading reviews of financial controls and governance activity to ensure alignment with relevant Finance standards
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls and helping drive pragmatic change
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly and annual balance sheet reviews to ensure accuracy and transparency
  • Producing clear management information on reporting and risk indicators for leadership teams and business stakeholders
  • Advising on accounting processes, reconciliations and control requirements across the Retail business
  • Maintaining key BAU activity across risk and control, EUC, model governance and financial records
  • Managing and supporting a junior colleague while contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team environment
Who we're looking for:
  • A qualified accountant or someone with equivalent experience
  • Experience in financial control, financial reporting or financial controller work in a large, complex or regulated environment
  • Strong knowledge of financial control frameworks, governance and risk management practices
  • An understanding of insurance accounting, actuarial processes and regulatory reporting requirements including IFRS, Solvency II and SAO
  • Experience managing reporting cycles, balance sheet activity, technical accounting judgements and audit interactions
  • The ability to analyse issues, challenge constructively and work with stakeholders to deliver practical solutionsA proactive and adaptable approach, with a focus on continuous improvement
