Job Title: Junior Finance Cost Business Partner

Our Mission

We’re on a mission to be a force for good in lending. Throughout our almost 30-year history, we’ve consistently been recognised as a great place to work; in 2026, Capital One was officially ranked 9th in the UK’s Best Workplaces™ list. Hear from our team about what it’s like working at Capital One UK.

About this Role

As an FP&A analyst, you will get a lot of guidance and support from your manager and colleagues but also a lot of freedom to do things your own way. It is an opportunity to put your own stamp on the monthly processes within the UK Cost team, acting as our Tech Junior Business Partner.

  • You don't need previous Tech experience to be successful in this position; we are looking for a great business partner first and foremost.

You will get exposure to lots of senior stakeholders in the business, and you will develop and own the relationships, reporting, budgeting, and preparing outlook for some of the most important parts of our Tech area. With guidance and coaching from your manager, we want you to drive financially sound decision making across the business.

It’s a really varied role where you will be a trusted deputy and develop and own relationships with stakeholders. There will be plenty of opportunity to get involved in finance activities that impact the entire business, as well as supporting project work with exposure to the Head of FP&A, the UK CFO and wider Leadership team.

We expect you to be able to talk to the business and your stakeholders about the impacts of their decisions on their (and the business) financials. You will provide effective support, problem-solving, and expertise in your area.

What you’ll do
  • Synthesise and simplify financial and non-financial data

  • Develop strong business relationships in the business and Finance to incorporate business context in everything you do

  • Partner with key stakeholders in the business to produce monthly outlook and annual budget reports ensuring that any risks or opportunities are effectively communicated and understood

  • Ensure all month-end activity is completed in an accurate and timely manner

    • Monthly reporting, variance analysis & commentary, outlooks, journals, etc.

  • Streamline monthly processes by finding efficiency gains through easier ways of doing things or automation

  • Work in partnership with senior stakeholders and senior FP&A Managers on:

    • high-impact, cross-departmental projects, ensuring stakeholders are able to understand and consider the financial impacts

    • driving sustainable efficiencies for the business and ensuring any investment is optimised

How you’ll be doing it
  • Use all relevant systems and applications competently to obtain the required outputs of the role (e.g. One Stream, Workday, GSuite, Microsoft Office)

  • Own and maintain reporting, outlook, and journal files (usually workbooks in Google Sheets)

  • Investigate new technologies and tools into your work streams to drive process improvements

  • Develop relationships in the business and leverage business knowledge to reflect business changes in our financial numbers

  • Identify and focus on the key risks and opportunities of the business (in particular in your areas)

  • Collaborate across Finance teams to deliver business outcomes together, taking into account upstream and downstream impacts

  • Effectively prioritise high-value tasks, working autonomously while exercising the judgement to escalation issues to management in a timely manner

The skills and experience you'll need
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to utilise tools like One Stream and Google Sheets to build repeatable, long-term solutions for monthly BAU processes.

  • Advanced Google Sheets/Excel skills.

  • Any coding experience is a plus, but a desire to develop coding skills (leveraging with the help of AI in day-to-day FP&A work) is essential.

  • Good communication skills, in particular the ability to quickly build relationships and interact effectively with junior…
