ITV Cymru Wales Public Affairs Manager / ITV Cymru Wales Rheolwr Materion Cyhoeddus

Office location:
Cardiff (This is an office based role, though some hybrid working will be possible.)

Please note:

This is to assist candidates in assessing their suitability for the role. The range does not represent a longer term salary commitment for the role.

You will use your excellent interpersonal, communication and research skills to capitalise on the news and programmes we make in Wales – and the talented teams that make them – in order to project ITV’s purpose and contribution to Welsh life to the widest possible range of stakeholders.

You will have experience of regulated environments and delivering a Public Affairs strategy, together with a comprehensive understanding of Welsh affairs and an up to date working knowledge of political environments.

To make a success of this role you will be personable, engaging and take a collaborative approach to getting things done. You will also have the presence and authority to successfully operate at a senior level and the ability to produce authoritative and practical advice and defend it if necessary.

You will be resourceful, and able to discern what activities will be the most effective in which to engage. You will also be used to being self-sufficient and delivering events with little support.

Your track record for diversity and inclusion will equip you with the contacts and vision to seek out and develop new and effective partnerships across the broadest possible range of organisations. You will also be working closely with the Public Affairs, Corporate Communications and Regulatory and Policy team in London.

You will also be asked to occasionally support colleagues at UTV in Northern Ireland with some key events.

If you think you have what it takes to make a success of this role then write to us telling us why in less than 2000 words, together with an up to date CV to reach us by midnight on 8th March. Interviews will take place in the week of 16th March.

Minimum Criteria for the role
  • Experience of working at a senior level in public affairs/communications
  • Good knowledge of Welsh current affairs
  • Puts diversity and inclusion at the heart of everything they do, capitalising on their wide range of contacts

  • Track record for building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships
  • Capacity to work on own initiative and to relate well to colleagues, clients and other contacts as appropriate
