Emergency Management Officer - Cardiff Council

Salary: £145 per day;

Hours:

37 hours;
Working schedule:
Monday to Friday;
Contract length: 12 month contract;

Job Details

The development, implementation and review of the policies, plans and procedures associated with the Civil Contingencies Act and other statutory regulations. Working as part of the Emergency Management Team to ensure the wellbeing of residents and communities during periods of disruption, collaborating with the Local Resilience Forum to ensure a coordinated response. Maintaining a strong Business Continuity Management system to protect critical services and collaborating with major event organisers to address safety requirements and residents' needs.

and Responsibilities
  • Deliver the work programmes specifically in relation to the requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act and other statutory regulations.
  • Lead specialist work streams as directed by the Principal Emergency Management Officer.
  • Prepare plans and procedures to facilitate an integrated internal and external response to incidents.
  • Assist in preparing and delivering training programmes and exercises to improve the council's emergency preparedness.
  • Liaise with officers within the Council, emergency services, voluntary agencies and other relevant organisations to carry out duties.
  • Attend meetings, courses and exercises as required.
  • Participate in the emergency on call system flexibly, averaging one to two weekdays and one weekend every four.
  • Assist the Council to respond to incidents both during and outside office hours.
  • Undertake occasional weekend and evening work when necessary.
  • Assist with administrative and clerical tasks as deemed necessary by the Principal Emergency Management Officer.
