About Us

We are a well-established planning consultancy with a strong team culture and a genuinely sociable working environment. We believe great planning advice comes from a close-knit, collaborative team - and we invest in building that both in and out of the office. If you're looking for a supportive, down-to-earth team where your professional development is taken seriously, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

We are seeking a Town Planner at Planner level to join our Cardiff office. This is an office-based role (five days a week), reflecting our belief that being together in person is central to how we collaborate, mentor and deliver for our clients.

You will work across a varied caseload covering general planning, heritage matters and planning enforcement, supporting senior colleagues and clients on a range of projects across Wales and the wider region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications, including supporting statements and appraisals
  • Providing planning advice on heritage-related matters, including listed building consent and conservation area considerations
  • Assisting with planning enforcement casework, including investigations and correspondence
  • Liaising with local planning authorities, clients and other consultants
  • Conducting site visits, appraisals and due diligence
  • Monitoring planning policy and legislative changes relevant to Wales
  • Supporting senior planners and directors on larger, more complex projects
  • Contributing to the team's collaborative and sociable culture, including team days, socials and internal knowledge-sharing
About You
  • Approximately 2-3 years' relevant experience in a planning consultancy, local authority or similar environment
  • Experience across general planning, heritage and enforcement casework is highly desirable
  • Actively working towards RTPI chartership, with a clear commitment to completing the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC)
  • Strong working knowledge of the UK planning system
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A team player who enjoys collaborative working and being part of an office-based, sociable culture
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable, for site visits)
What We Offer
  • Salary of £34,000 - £37,000, dependent on experience
  • Structured support towards RTPI chartership, including mentoring and study support
  • A collaborative, office-based team culture with regular team socials and events
  • Exposure to a broad and varied caseload across general planning, heritage and enforcement
  • Clear opportunities for career progression within the consultancy
