I'm hiring on behalf of a Local Authority situated in Sussex who are a seeking an Environmental Health Officer to join their Food Safety team for an initial 6 month contract.
About the role:Environmental Health Officer (Food)
Location - Sussex
Contact length – 3 months (with the view to extend)
Rate - £40-£50 per hour or £50-£65 per inspection.
Working arrangements – Open to full time or part time. Evening and weekend work is permitted.
They require an experienced Food Safety Officer/Environmental Health Officer to undertake a range of inspections, consisting of primarily C's and D's, as well as some unrated premises.
Your role and responsibility:- Carry out complex and high-risk food hygiene inspections and investigations.
- Review casework, notices, and enforcement actions to ensure consistency, legal compliance, and service quality.
- Manage service requests, complaints, and serious incidents, ensuring timely and proportionate responses.
- Investigate infectious disease notifications.
You must have a proven track record of conducting food inspections, enforcement experience is desirable but not essential and Local Authority experience is essential.
Qualifications:- A degree/diploma in Environmental Health
- EHRB Registered/Chartered
- Higher Certificate in Food Safety/Food Control
