Cardiff and Vale UHB are able to offer an exciting opportunity to join our forward-thinking Physiotherapy team.
As the Regional centre for South East Wales, Cardiac services within Cardiff and Vale UHB provide Cardio-Thoracic surgery and Interventional Cardiology services to patients within SE Wales.
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated Physiotherapist to join our Cardio-Thoracic team. As a specialist Physiotherapist you will have the opportunity to gain experience and develop your clinical skills within Cardiac Surgery, Cardiology / Cardiac Rehabilitation and Thoracic Surgery.
You will require the skills to provide decisive and effective therapy input, demonstrate leadership qualities, high level of communication and a flexible approach when working under pressure.
Our physiotherapists are an integral part of the multidisciplinary team and as a successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to provide high quality physiotherapy to patients with diverse presentations and complex physical conditions.
The department has close links with Cardiff University School of Physiotherapy and you will also be responsible for the provision of clinical placements to Physiotherapy students.
The Department of Physiotherapy provides full induction, a comprehensive programme of in-service training, regular appraisal and opportunities for development.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner and will have relevant post registration experience for the role and will undertake specialist clinical duties as required within a defined specialist clinical area.
To work alongside members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver physiotherapy services to patients within a defined specialist clinical area. This will include patients with multi-pathology and complex needs, using evidence-based patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and maintain associated records. They will have responsibility for managing their own specialist clinical caseload. In addition, they will provide clinical supervision and support to physiotherapists, student and non-registered staff.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

Person Specification Qualifications- Relevant qualification in Physiotherapy
- HCPC registration
- Specialist training/courses to Postgraduate Diploma level
- CSP membership
- Significant post registration experience in the specialist area of Cardio-thoracic surgery, Cardiology and Cardiac Rehabilitation.
- Experience as working as part of an MDT
- Active involvement in service development and quality initiatives
- Previous clinical experience relevant to post
- Experience of providing clinical supervision
- Highly developed physical skills relevant to Cardio-Thoracic surgery, Cardiology and Cardiac Rehabilitation
- Excellent communication skills with healthcare professional and the public
- Adaptive/ flexible team player Effective organisational skills
- Confident with digital technology platforms/apps
- Personal responsibility for learning and development
- Effective Presentation Skills
- Specialist physiotherapy knowledge in the clinical area
- Evidence of relevant post graduate training courses
