Associate Dean for Quality Management (Liaison)
Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is seeking an Associate Dean for Quality Management (Liaison) to support and coordinate quality management activity across postgraduate medical education and training in Wales.
This role plays an important part in ensuring training programmes meet regulatory standards and continue to improve through effective collaboration, data-informed decision-making, and strong working relationships. You will work closely with colleagues across HEIW, Foundation and Specialty Schools, Heads of School, training programme leads and Faculty teams to support a consistent and joined-up approach to quality management.
The postholder will contribute to the delivery of HEIW's Quality Management System, participate in quality monitoring and review activity, and support the use of data, intelligence and digital tools to identify risk and inform improvement. The role also involves representing HEIW at national and regional meetings as required.
We are looking for a medically qualified professional with full GMC registration and experience of postgraduate medical education or training. You will have a good understanding of quality management and regulatory frameworks, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively across organisational and professional boundaries.

Main duties of the jobThe postholder will:
- provide strategic leadership and liaison for quality management activity across postgraduate medical education and training (PMET) in Wales.
- enhance data and intelligence sharing, facilitate collaboration between the Quality Unit and Foundation and Specialty Schools, and act as a liaison with Heads of Schools, training programme leads and other key stakeholders including Faculty Leads to facilitate a unified approach to the quality agenda in PMET.
- ensure that the quality of postgraduate medical education meets the standards set by regulatory bodies (GMC) and supports excellence in training through evidence-based decision-making and evaluation
- work closely with the Associate Dean (Quality) to integrate data insights into continuous quality improvement processes and ensure alignment with the existing quality management structures.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;
Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
- Full specialist or GP registration and a licence to practice with the General Medical Council
- Medically qualified with a background in Primary or Secondary Care, or Public Health
- Knowledge of quality management and quality assurance processes in postgraduate medical education in Wales and the UK, including regulatory standards (e.g. GMC).
- Good knowledge of education, training and development systems and processes in health care structures
- Understanding of the use of data, intelligence, and digital platforms to monitor training quality and inform improvement.
- Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and evaluation frameworks in education or healthcare systems
