An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced support worker to join the physiotherapy team working in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. This is a full time post, based in the medicine physiotherapy team. There is one post available at St David's Hospital site, and one post at University Hospital Llandough.
As part of the physiotherapy team you will be delivering rehabilitation programmes to patients within an inpatient setting. This includes working with predominantly older adults, and will include some elements of personal care.
The successful applicants will need to demonstrate an interest in rehabilitation. Excellent communication skills are key and it is important that you are a team player with a positive outlook, enthusiasm and ability to learn and develop new skills. Previous experience in rehabilitation in the hospital setting would be advantageous.
The post holder may be required to work a 7 day job plan to support the delivery of 7 day Physiotherapy services.
A full and comprehensive training programme will be available.
Main duties of the jobPrincipally to provide a service, under the direction of a registered practitioner, to the individuals within a defined area. They will work with direction to assist the registered practitioner in clinical and administrative duties following specific competency-based training. They will independently carry out routine treatment programmes to both individuals and groups which have been delegated by a registered practitioner. They will progress within guidelines laid down by the registered practitioner.
They will be responsible and accountable for these tasks.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

Person Specification Qualifications- Good general education, numeracy and literacy to at least GCSE level.
- NVQ3 level or equivalent
- Evidence of further education eg relevant NVQ’s, sport science degree
- Agored Diploma in Physiotherapy support
- Healthcare work
- Dealing with people both individually or in groups
- Worked within a rehabilitation setting
- Previous Physiotherapy support worker or Therapy technician experience
- NHS experience
- Experience in class taking
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of people
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to work alone
- Basic digital technology skills
- Measuring and application of walking aids
- Ability to speak Welsh
- A basic awareness of rehabilitation and the role of Physiotherapy.
