Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join our dynamic IV Access Team. Working alongside specialist nurses, you will support the delivery of high-quality vascular access services across the Trust, assisting with PICC clinics, line care, patient monitoring, equipment preparation, and maintaining accurate documentation. You will play a key role in ensuring safe, effective, and patient‑centred care while supporting infection prevention standards and contributing to service improvement.

The ideal candidate will have previous healthcare experience, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to teamwork in a fast‑paced clinical environment. Main Duties of the job
  • Works as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients within the outpatient/daycase setting under supervision provided by a registered healthcare professional.
  • Undertakes personal care activities and clinical care duties with minimal support and supervision as delegated by a registered healthcare professional in accordance with the HEIW All Wales Guidelines for Delegation.
  • Ensures the registered healthcare professional is regularly updated on the patients/client's condition and progress.
  • Ensures the working environment is safe and hygienic following infection prevention and control policies and processes.
  • Contributes to the teaching and supervision of students and junior staff.
  • Assists with patient education.
  • Delivers role in accordance with Health Board/Trust Values and Code of Conduct for HCSW's in Wales.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will work as an integral part of the clinical nursing team to support the clinical area. The post holder will be responsible for supporting clinical and non‑clinical practices within service. The role will facilitate systems and processes that assist in the fundamental of care delivery to the patient to include stock maintenance, taking and recording of observations and to assist with the basic physical and emotional care of patients and their families as directed and under direct supervision of a qualified nurse.

Please be aware that you may be required to cover in Chemotherapy Service, Outpatients or Inpatients.
