Role Overview
An exciting opportunity is available for an innovative and strategically minded individual to lead and further develop a clinically led service dedicated to Neuro and Major Trauma Rehabilitation for Children.
Main duties of the jobThe appointed candidate will be responsible for providing expert clinical leadership that supports the delivery of care for paediatric Neuro and Major Trauma Rehabilitation. This role encompasses both clinical leadership and the day‑to‑day operational management of the Neuro and Major Trauma Rehabilitation team. The post holder will support clinical leads and the AHP Consultant for Major Trauma, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality and safe care.
Furthermore, the position involves supporting the development of clinical pathways for paediatric major trauma and neuro rehab within the health board and throughout the South Wales Network, drawing upon expert knowledge, clinical leadership, and education.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

Job responsibilitiesThe Team Leader for Major Trauma and Neuro Rehab for Paediatrics will act as professional leader for this service area at clinical, operational and strategic levels and make sure our contribution to implementing national and local service improvement is well defined and that services have a positive impact on the recovery and health and well‑being for children.
The post holder will act as Specialist Rehabilitation Lead, ensuring the continued development and maintenance of their clinical and professional skills. The post holder will co‑ordinate a specialist team providing a comprehensive Rehabilitation service to Children and Young people who have sustained Major Trauma or Acute Brain Injury. The post holder will be expected to support the team to deliver highly specialist assessments, treatment and evaluation of outcomes to patients.
The post holder will be expected to provide multi‑professional education and training.
To have expert knowledge and skills in the field of Major Trauma care and specialist Neuro‑rehabilitation, developing cross professional and organisational boundary working practices and integrating research evidence into practice.
Person Specification Qualifications- Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in therapy
- H.C.P.C. Registration
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Therapy
- Significant post registration experience in a therapy position at senior level in (Paediatric) major trauma/complex rehab
- Involvement in change management
- Ability to demonstrate advanced level of clinical skills within the field of major trauma/complex rehab.
- Research methodology
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
