Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to work on Ward 17, a 28 bedded elective orthopaedic ward. We are looking to appoint a flexible person with general clerical skills, who can cope well under pressure. Someone who enjoys working with members of the public and being a vital member of our friendly, hardworking team.
Responsibilities- Assist with general ward tidiness, filing, scanning, photocopying, medical data inputting, booking patient appointments and maintaining a pleasant telephone manner.
- Maintain patient notes, computer systems, answer phone calls and scan documents.
- Communicate with a wide range of professionals, Consultants, doctors, nursing staff, patients and relatives.
- Organise own workload to maintain an efficient and professional service.
- Photocopy documents/notes as required, locate, collate, file and store patient notes appropriately.
- Contribute to a welcoming atmosphere within the ward, making users feel comfortable and at ease.
- Report any problems relevant to the ward to the senior nurse in charge.
- Operate patient administration computer system and ensure it is up to date with details of all patients currently on ward.
- Ensure that all patient admission, discharge and transfer details are recorded on the computer system in a timely manner.
- Maintain an adequate level of stock to support smooth ward operations.
- Make arrangements for X‑ray, ECG and other relevant procedures when requested.
- Collect and deal with post appropriately.
- Perform any other ad‑hoc duties as required by the ward manager.
- Flexible person with general clerical skills.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Desirable: knowledge of health IT systems (full training will be given).
We consider Welsh speaking & listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above as an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. Fluency is not required.
