We are excited to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Pharmacy Technician to lead Pharmacy Clinical Services, at Velindre Cancer Centre. We are a forward-thinking and innovative department with a history of developing advanced roles for our Pharmacy Technician team. We remain focused on further developing our workforce as we prepare to move to our new site at nVCC in Spring 2027.
The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Clinical Services. You will work as part of a specialised, friendly team whilst also working independently using your own initiative to undertake dispensing, final checking, mentoring/training and supervisory duties as required.
The successful candidate will be a highly competent and dynamic pharmacy technician with considerable knowledge and skills. They will be able to demonstrate leadership in previous roles, show a passion for developing people and have experience in delivering service development, innovation, appraisals and mentoring.
Main duties of the jobTo lead the operational provision of the range of services across pharmacy Clinical Services
Organisational management of the Oral and Outsourced Dispensary
Continuing the development of Pharmacy Services provided across all Clinical areas
If a training period is required, your contract will be issued under Annex 21: 75% of a Band 6 for 12 to 18 months or until qualification is achieved.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;
Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply
- BTEC / NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services or L4 Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice
- Technician Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice.
- Knowledge of hospital dispensary processes
- An up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy practice
- Specialist knowledge of systemic anti-cancer regimens
- Knowledge of Change management
- Experience specifically related to Education and Training and workforce planning
- Experience of managing and mentoring staff
- Experience of electronic medicines management systems
- Knowledge and experience of appraisal process
- Knowledge of NVQ process
- Experience of SACT electronic prescribing systems
- Experience of EPMA
- Able to generate new ideas and ways of working to support the Trust's strategy and objectives
- Team player, with ability to lead and motivate self and others
- Able to work independently
- Able to organise own time and that of others
- Able to prioritise workload and that of others, ensuring that the work is completed within project timescales.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills - verbal and written.
- Advanced keyboard skills needed for accuracy to manipulate data and accurately input data.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Able to work accurately with attention to detail
- Able to measure and prepare medications for patients, including cytotoxic products.
- Demonstrates initiative
- Calm manner
- Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Welsh
