The salary scale for a Band 3 has been adjusted as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2026/2027 and will be implemented in August 2026 backdated to 01 April 2026 where applicable.

Job overview

Pharmacists are valued members of our multi-disciplinary team playing a key role in the delivery of technical and clinical medicines management services.

The post holder will form part of the Pharmacy Quality Assurance team alongside clinical pharmacy duties, working within the Pharmacy Clinical Service to ensure all chemotherapy prescriptions and adjunct treatments are clinically screened in accordance with national guidelines and best practice guidance, working on the inpatient wards when necessary. You will provide an advanced level clinical pharmacy service to our patients.

You will be required to work weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis. This post includes a commitment to undertake emergency on-call duties.

Main duties of the job

To assist the Chief Pharmacist and Principal Pharmacists in developing and maintaining the pharmaceutical service to Velindre NHS Trust to ensure that it is safe, efficient in the use of resources and complies with the Clinical Governance requirements of the Trust.

If a training period is required, your contract will be issued under Annex 21: 75% of a Band 8a for 12 to 18 months or until qualification is achieved.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;
