Lead Theatre Practitioner – Anaesthetics/Recovery
Position at The Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor. Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, permanent salary up to £54,316.02 per year (dependent on experience, training and qualifications).
Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred care across the perioperative pathway, acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.
- Ensure that all patient safety checks, including WHO surgical safety processes, are carried out in accordance with hospital policy.
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, compassion, and accountability.
- Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their rights, safety, and dignity are upheld at all times.
- Apply all relevant legislation, policies and procedures to theatre operations, ensuring adherence to professional and regulatory standards.
- Work collaboratively with anaesthetists, surgeons, recovery staff and wider hospital teams to ensure effective patient flow and continuity of care.
- NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with significant experience in a theatre environment (e.g., scrub, recovery or anaesthetics).
- Demonstrated clinical leadership experience and ability to act as a role model to peers.
- Strong understanding of patient‑safety protocols, safeguarding, infection control and clinical governance.
- Scrub Practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification (for scrub leads).
- ENB 998 and/or mentorship course.
- Approved/recognised anaesthetic course. ILS.
- Excellent communication, organisation and mentoring skills.
- Commitment to personal development and supporting the development of others.
- Experience in major orthopaedics is desired.
