Practice Nurse

At Wish Park Surgery we are a large friendly and supportive team of multidisciplinary GPs and clinicians, and skilled and experienced administrators.

Ideally not less than 20 hours per week but f
lexible for the right candidate

We are seeking a "treatment room" Nurse who will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of Practice.

• Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as indicated by patient need.
• This includes the following procedures (but training and support can be offered for any of the procedures for which you are not qualified/experienced)
• Removal of Sutures/ clips
• Travel Clinic
• Venepuncture
• Hypertension Management / 24 hour ambulatory BP
• Ear syringing
• Routine immunizations/Childhood immunisations
• Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
• Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
• Following agreed clinical protocols.

Other tasks will include:

• Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs and upholding the standards required for Infection prevention and control.
• Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
• Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
• Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
• Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels if required
• Participation in administrative systems in the practice
• At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
• A duty to advise other team members of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
• Attend and participate in any practice / clinical meetings weekly.
• On occasion, there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
• Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others’ health, safety, and security as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policy, including:

• Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines
• Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
• Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
• Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
