As a Db2 system programmer you will be responsible for Db2 for zOS activities ensuring the performance integrity maintenance and security of our UK database estate You will be required to work as part of a team which support 50 Db2 subsystems across multiple mainframes and geographies
As a Db2 for zOS specialist youll need to
- Install and test new versions Db2
- Continuous delivery of maintenance for Db2 and tooling
- Support and management of distributed Db2 connections
- Engineering solutions to exploit automation
- Stability and integrity of a highly responsive OLTP CICS Db2 environment
- Planning and maintenance of databases
- Capacity planning
- Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
- Monitor performance
- Provide fast responses to frontend users
- Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of a database
- Develop manage and test backup and recovery plans
- Communicate regularly with technical applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
- Establish the needs of users and monitor user access security
- Development and production support
- Troubleshooting activities
Skills
You will need to show
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

- Familiarity with the main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design

Qualifications
You can enter this career with a degree in any subject or significant relevant industry experience but the following is preferable

- Experience of working as a zOS Systems Specialist with significant skills in the Db2 arena
- Db2 production support
- Db2 software maintenance
- Db2 performance tuning
- Db2 application support
