Welsh Translator

Llais – The Citizen Voice Body for Health and Social Care.

Are you passionate about making real change in health and social care? Do you believe in the power of people's voices to shape better services? If so, we want to hear from you! We are looking for a passionate and skilled Welsh Translator to join our National team. This role is central to ensuring Llais meets its obligations under the Welsh Language Standards Regulations (2011) and delivers high‑quality bilingual services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide written translation services for a wide range of materials including reports, correspondence, social media content, signage, and website content.
  • Support staff in creating Welsh language content for digital platforms.
  • Proofread Welsh documents for accuracy and readability.
  • Advise on Welsh language usage and support compliance with Welsh language policies.
  • Maintain a database of translation work and contribute to quarterly reporting.
  • Arrange translation and interpretation from external suppliers for other languages.
  • Attend and contribute to Grwp Gweithgor Iaith Gymraeg meetings, our internal Welsh language working group.
Qualifications & Experience
  • The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential.
  • A relevant degree in Translation, Welsh, Journalism, Digital Communications, or Media.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Welsh and English.
  • Experience using translation technologies (e.g. translation memory, machine translation).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to delivering a high‑quality Welsh language service.
