Role responsibilitiesWe are looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to lead our Procurement and Stores functions, ensuring the timely, cost‑effective and compliant supply of materials, goods and services that keep our business moving.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, Planning and Logistics, you will provide operational leadership across procurement and stores, driving supplier performance, developing procurement strategies and ensuring materials are available to support production and customer commitments. You will play a key role in strengthening supplier relationships, improving commercial performance and embedding best practice across the procurement function.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded procurement professional who enjoys leading people, influencing stakeholders and delivering continuous improvement within a fast‑paced engineering environment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to- Leadership and People – Lead, coach and develop the Procurement and Stores teams, creating a high‑performing, collaborative culture focused on service, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Procurement Strategy – Develop and implement procurement and category strategies that deliver value for money, improve supplier performance and support operational and commercial objectives.
- Supplier and Contract Management – Build strong strategic relationships with suppliers, negotiate commercial agreements, monitor supplier performance and drive improvements in quality, cost and delivery.
- Operational Delivery – Oversee the end‑to‑end procurement process for production materials, indirect goods and services, ensuring timely availability of materials while maintaining compliance with company governance and delegated authority.
- Commercial Performance – Analyse procurement data, spend, inventory and supplier performance to support informed decision‑making, identify savings opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
- Compliance and Risk Management – Ensure procurement activities comply with Company policies, quality standards and regulatory requirements, managing supplier approvals, audits and procurement‑related risks.
- Continuous Improvement – Drive improvements across procurement and stores processes, supporting digitalisation, standardisation and best practice to enhance business performance.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Work closely with Production, Engineering, Planning, Finance and other internal stakeholders to ensure procurement activities support business priorities and customer requirements.
- An experienced Procurement Manager or Senior Procurement professional with a background in engineering, manufacturing, heavy industry or rail.
