ED Grade 4 SCP 6-11 (FTE £25,989 - £28,142 pro rata basis) Part time 20 hours (split-shift – morning and evening) Occasionally there may be the need for out of hours work or overtime. 52 weeks per annum Required as soon as possible.

The Governing Body of Ysgol Pencae seek to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated Estates Manager to join our thriving school community. We are looking to appoint an exceptional Estates Manager who is reliable, proactive, and conscientious, with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, welcoming environment for our pupils, staff, and visitors. As a valued member of our happy and hardworking team, you will play a key role in ensuring that our school site is maintained to the highest standards, supporting the excellent teaching and learning that takes place every day.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, highly organised, and take genuine pride in their work. They will have high expectations of themselves, demonstrate excellent attention to detail, and be committed to ensuring the school environment remains safe, attractive, and fit for purpose.

Ysgol Pencae is situated in the heart of Llandaff, Cardiff, and enjoys strong support from its pupils, families, staff, and wider community.

The Site Manager will be responsible for a wide range of premises and maintenance duties, including carrying out regular site inspections, undertaking weekly fire alarm testing, completing routine health and safety checks, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and procedures. The post holder will act as the on-site manager during working hours and will serve as the school's lead key holder, taking responsibility for the security and smooth operation of the school site.

Practical skills and knowledge:
The successful candidate will have experience working as a Site Manager, Estates Manager, Caretaker, or in a similar role, with the skills and knowledge required to maintain a high-quality school environment and ensure that the buildings and grounds are safe, secure, and well-presented.

Essential qualities and skills include:
Strong practical skills, the ability to carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and site inspections to a high standard.
• Good DIY skills, including confidence in using a range of tools and equipment.
• Experience of maintaining school grounds or similar outdoor environments; gardening and landscaping skills would be advantageous.
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of health and safety legislation, procedures, and best practice.
• The ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly and effectively.
• Strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise tasks/work independently.
• A proactive approach, taking pride in maintaining a safe, welcoming, attractive environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
• Full, valid driving licence.

The successful candidate will be reliable, self-motivated, and committed to maintaining the highest standards across all aspects of the school site, making a significant contribution to the smooth day-to-day operation of the school.

Health and Safety The Site Manager will play a key role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of our entire school community. The successful candidate will:

• Communicate and interact professionally with pupils, staff, parents, governors, visitors, contractors, and external agencies.
• Be an excellent role model for pupils, demonstrating professionalism, respect, and a positive attitude.
• Coordinate and liaise effectively with staff, contractors, and external suppliers to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of the school site.
• Maintain comprehensive records and documentation, including health and safety inspections, compliance checks, maintenance logs, and statutory testing records.
• Undertake and oversee regular health and safety checks, ensuring that all areas of the school site meet required standards.
• Ensure full compliance with safeguarding and child protection procedures, promoting a safe and secure environment for all pupils.
