An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Employment lawyer to join Redkite as our Partner /
Head of Employment
.

This is a senior fee-earning and leadership role, offering the opportunity to manage a high-quality employment law caseload while leading and developing our Employment team and contributing to the continued growth and commercial success of the practice.

We are looking for an established Employment Solicitor who combines excellent technical expertise and client service with strong commercial awareness and the ability to lead, develop and inspire others.

Position Overview

As Head of Employment, you will remain an active senior fee earner within the team, managing your own varied caseload and advising employers, owner-managed businesses, commercial organisations and individuals on complex contentious and non-contentious employment matters.

Alongside your fee-earning responsibilities, you will provide leadership and strategic direction to the Employment team, supporting colleagues in their development, driving performance and maintaining high standards of technical quality and client service.

You will also play a key role in developing existing client relationships, generating new opportunities and continuing to evolve and grow Redkite's Employment offering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage your own high-quality caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Provide expert, commercially focused employment law advice to employers, businesses and individuals.
  • Advise on matters including discrimination, dismissal, restructuring, redundancy, TUPE, senior exits and settlement agreements.
  • Represent clients in Employment Tribunal proceedings and other employment-related disputes.
  • Draft and advise on employment contracts, policies, agreements and associated documentation.
  • Lead, manage and develop the Employment team, including supervision, coaching, mentoring and performance management.
  • Provide technical supervision and guidance on complex matters where required.
  • Develop and deliver the department's strategy, budgets and performance objectives.
  • Monitor and drive the commercial and financial performance of the Employment practice.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, including senior management and Board-level stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for client growth, cross-referral and new business development.
  • Take an active role in networking, profile raising and developing Redkite's presence within the Employment Law market.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm and wider Commercial Division to identify opportunities and support wider strategic objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the team, identifying opportunities to improve performance, service delivery and the commercial offering.
About You

You will be a commercially minded and experienced Employment lawyer with the technical expertise, leadership capability and ambition to lead and continue developing a successful Employment practice.

You will have:

  • Qualified Solicitor status with a current practising certificate and significant post-qualification experience in Employment Law.
  • Proven experience leading, managing and developing an Employment team or wider legal department.
  • Strong technical expertise across contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Demonstrable experience advising employers, owner-managed businesses and commercial organisations.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify opportunities for client growth, cross-referral and business development.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted client relationships at senior management and Board level.
  • Experience developing and delivering departmental strategy, budgets and performance objectives.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including supervision, coaching, mentoring and performance management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across the wider business.
