We are the Strategy, Planning and Corporate Affairs Division.

We’re making a difference through expert advice, collaborative strategy, and insightful planning and delivery. Our team is committed to living the values of Public Health Wales and are proud of the work that we do.

Climate Change is recognised as the greatest threat to humanity. It affects our physical environment and as a result affects the functioning of our health systems and population health. We have an ambitious Climate Response Plan (2026-28) which outlines actions for the next two years in both climate adaptation and mitigation, including our decarbonisation commitments and work to minimise the impact of climate change on our services.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Planning Support Manager on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave where you’ll manage the delivery of our Climate Response Plan and drive forward our net zero ambitions in line with our Long Term Strategy.

We strive to deliver work to an exceptionally high standard and draw on best practice and innovation. We are seeking to create a vibrant, inclusive, and healthy culture where our team are supported to develop and thrive.

Main duties of the job

As Planning Support Manager for Decarbonisation, you’ll be directly involved in making a difference to the health of the people of Wales by managing the delivery of our Climate Response Plan.

You’ll work across the organisation, ensuring that we work collaboratively to deliver the actions needed to reduce our carbon footprint. You’ll be responsible for the monitoring and reporting on progress of the plans on a regular basis so excellent analytical skills will be needed.

You will have the opportunity to lead and manage key organisational-level projects working with a range of colleagues from across the organisation.

You’ll use your proven people and planning skills to develop and implement ways that we are working effectively with our partners across the organisation and the wider public health system to deliver our Plan.

Your excellent written communication skills will be utilised to ensure our plans and reports are accessible and understandable for everyone interested in how we plan to achieve a healthier Wales.
