Boccard UK is looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Apprentice Production Engineer to join our Engineering team at our Deeside fabrication facility.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has already completed engineering
qualifications and is looking to apply their knowledge in a real manufacturing environment while continuing their apprenticeship development.

You will work alongside experienced engineers, production supervisors, quality specialists and project teams to help improve manufacturing processes, increase productivity and support the fabrication of structural steel and pipework components for major projects within highly regulated industries.

We are specifically seeking candidates who have already completed:

• BTEC Level 3 Award in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
• City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations
• City & Guilds Level 2 Digital Literacy and Employability Skills

Successful applicants will join the apprenticeship programme in Year 2, attending college (Coleg Cambria) on a day-release basis every Thursday from September 2026
, while spending the remainder of the week gaining practical experience and completing a Level 3 NVQ within the workplace.

As an Apprentice Production Engineer, you will:

• Learn from experienced engineers and gain a detailed understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
• Collect and analyse production data to identify trends, bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
• Support investigations into production issues, fabrication challenges and drawing discrepancies.
• Assist with troubleshooting production, quality and process-related issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality and productivity.
• Maintain accurate production records using Boccard's digital production management system, Boctrack.
• Develop skills in engineering software and CAD systems.
• Work closely with Production, QA/QC, Engineering and Project Management teams in the UK and Colombia.
• Support Boccard’s commitment to delivering projects On Time, On Spec and On Budget.
• Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements.

• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Strong attention to detail.
• A positive, inquisitive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Experience using AutoCAD or other CAD software.
• Previous experience within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of the nuclear industry.

• Practical experience within a specialist engineering and fabrication environment.
• Mentoring and support from experienced engineers.
• Exposure to manufacturing, quality, engineering and project management disciplines.
• Training in industry-leading production management systems and engineering software.

This role offers a clear route into a permanent Production Engineer position.

Production Engineers play a key role in improving manufacturing performance through continuous improvement, process optimisation, quality enhancement and waste reduction. As your skills develop, you will take ownership of larger projects, lead improvement initiatives and assume responsibility for specific production areas within the facility.
