Youngwilders are looking for a Youth Network Officer to help us restore nature across the North of England and to involve young people (aged 18-30) in our nature recovery projects across the region, and in the nature recovery movement more broadly.

Since 2022, Youngwilders have set up twelve youth-led nature recovery projects across the UK; created 210 acres of new space for nature; and engaged over 1400 young people in the process. We are now looking to expand our projects across the North of England, and need your help to do so!

As the Youth Network Officer, you will lead on bringing together young people at our nature recovery projects in the region, providing young people with educational activities to help them learn more about nature and how to protect it. You will lead regional access and outreach, attending partner events, contacting local groups, distributing materials, and actively reaching communities and individuals who are currently underrepresented in nature recovery.

You will also help deliver practical nature activities at our youth-led nature recovery projects (North of England). You will work closely with the Ecology Officer for the region who is based in Manchester, and the wider Youngwilders Youth Network Team based in south and north of England.

• Help to run our nature recovery projects based in the North of England, with key support from the central team based in the South East;
• Organise and run events as part of our projects which provide local young people with the opportunity to gain practical insight into nature recovery;
• Support and mentor our Wild Stewards (young people taking part in our training programme) to develop their skills and support our project delivery.
• Grow the community of young people engaging with Youngwilders, with a focus on engaging young people who are underrepresented within the sector, particularly young people from ethnically minoritised backgrounds, low income backgrounds, and/or young people with mental or physical access needs
• Communicate with all the young people taking part in our projects and programmes, including managing and building our existing organisational relationships, and strengthen the connections within our community.
• Do practical conservation work on Youngwilders’ sites;
• This could include planting trees, creating habitats, surveying for local wildlife, building fences, and many more activities.
• Work with our Creative Communications Lead to create content for social media aimed at young people through our various platforms (Instagram, Tik Tok, Whatsapp, etc.);
• Help manage and build our existing organisational relationships and network;
• Help Youngwilders create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere in all things we do.
