The Campaigns & Policy Assistant at The Vegan Society supports the development and delivery of public-facing campaigns while contributing to policy research that helps shape national conversations around veganism.

In this role, you'll assist with campaign briefs, research, copywriting, political monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and event support, helping drive meaningful change for the vegan movement. It's a hands-on hybrid role ideal for someone passionate about advocacy, public policy, and promoting vegan values.

Key responsibilities:
  • Manage the campaigns inbox, replying and forwarding on queries to relevant teams.
  • Support the development of internal and external briefs for campaigns and coordinate approvals.
  • Assist with campaign research, public engagement tactics, and social media trends.
  • Support development and implementation of behaviour change and public-facing campaigns.
  • Monitor and evaluate campaign activity.
  • Assist with campaign copywriting (social captions, blogs, briefs).
  • Liaise with internal teams to support campaign delivery.
  • Support at campaign events throughout the year where needed.
Policy support
  • Monitor political developments, Bills, and parliamentary debates.
  • Identify stakeholder engagement opportunities and document ongoing engagement.
  • Identify opportunities to raise The Vegan Society's concerns across UK/EU parliament, local government, and devolved administrations.
  • Highlight opportunities to engage parliamentarians and ministers on key vegan issues.
  • Assist with logistics for Party Conference events and international conferences (e.g., COP).
Requirements:
  • GCSE English and Maths Grade 4/C or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent writing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to complete tasks efficiently from written and verbal briefings.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrable interest in campaigns and lobbying.
  • Good general knowledge of vegan issues.
  • Full commitment to vegan principles and The Vegan Society's values.
  • Experience in not-for-profit or mission-driven organisations.
  • Experience with social media platforms.
    Prior administrative experience.
  • Ability to conduct independent online research.
  • Interest in politics and understanding of the current political landscape.
