Colorectal Triage Nurse Specialist

Collaborating closely with a dedicated team of nursing and medical professionals across both the surgical department and cancer services, you will be instrumental in improving patient outcomes. Guided by senior colleagues and established protocols, you will ensure timely and efficient care for every patient.,

This is an exciting new role within the Colorectal Team, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to develop the triage service with support from the wider team.

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment and triage of colorectal referrals, identifying patients suitable for the STT pathway in line with agreed protocols and clinical guidelines. The Triage Nurse will review and act upon investigation results within their scope of practice, escalating any concerns or results to senior colleagues which fall outside of their scope of practice, while also serving as the main point of contact for patients navigating the pathway.

They will conduct initial telephone and face-to-face assessments, gathering clinical history and evaluating symptoms to determine appropriate clinical management. Request and organise clinical investigations within scope of practice and provide information, advice, and reassurance to patients. Ensuring they understand their diagnostic pathway and what to expect from investigations and treatments.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;
