Job Overview
Join the friendly, hard‑working IV team in the IV Suite at Deeside Community Hospital. The role involves the delivery, care and management of IV infusions and transfusions, inserting lines, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient‑specific clinical programmes. You will perform venepuncture and cannulation and work alongside experienced IV staff.
Responsibilities- Providing training and support to patients and their families.
- Assisting with or performing blood draws and inserting IV lines.
- Managing haematological conditions in liaison with consultants.
- Supporting oncology patients with treatments in liaison with consultants.
- Observing patients’ conditions, monitoring vital signs and escalating to appropriate clinicians.
- Developing and implementing care plans based on patient needs and maintaining accurate records of care.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care, MDT working with oncology and haematology.
- Developing and supporting a new service.
- Taking on a senior role when needed, competent in the management and delivery of IV therapies.

Person Specification– Essential Criteria
- NMC Registered.
- Pre‑registration evidence in direct nursing care.
- Experience of providing holistic nursing care.
- Interest in developing nursing skills.
- Clear understanding of the contract of care.
- Ability to document details clearly and accurately.
- Clear understanding of the consent process.
- Basic IT skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Evidence of post‑registration study and training, e.g., POVA, Child Protection, Intermediate Life Support when required in a clinical setting.
- Clear understanding of the clinical governance framework.
- Implement evidence‑based practice.
- Knowledge of incident reporting policy.
- Awareness of policies relating to incident reporting.
- Welsh speaker.
