Locum Children’s Safeguarding Nurse within Paediatric Nursing in Cardiff, earning £30 hourly for a 3-month initial term, with possibilities for extension. This full-time block booking role is perfect for a nurse with experience in paediatric safeguarding, particularly someone skilled in conducting safeguarding conversations and assessments with children.

What you will do:
  • Provide specialist safeguarding advice and support to healthcare professionals regarding child protection concerns and complex safeguarding cases.
  • Participate in strategy discussions, child protection conferences, core group meetings, and multi-agency safeguarding arrangements as the health representative where appropriate.
  • Review safeguarding referrals and ensure concerns are escalated in accordance with Wales Safeguarding Procedures and local protocols.
  • Deliver safeguarding supervision, training, and professional guidance to clinical staff across services.
Person Specification:

Qualifications:
  • You must be a Registered Children’s Nurse with an RN Child qualification, as well as have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Degree or equivalent in Nursing and evidence of post-registration safeguarding training and development.
  • You’ve undergone Safeguarding Children Level 3 training as a minimum requirement.
Registration and Compliance:
  • Current NMC registration without restrictions is essential, along with an Enhanced DBS clearance.
  • A thorough understanding of key legislation and procedures including the Social Services and Well‑being Act 2014, Children Act of 1989 and 2004, and NHS Wales safeguarding frameworks.
