Clinical Lead Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to step into a Clinical Lead position within a friendly, independent veterinary practice in South Wales.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an RVN who wants to progress their career while remaining hands-on clinically without the admin aspect. With a strong focus on patient care, team support and clinical excellence. The role is centred around clinical leadership rather than administration, with dedicated management support in place for the non-clinical side of the practice.

The role offers:

  • Lead from the clinical floor - act as a senior point of contact, supporting the nursing and veterinary teams while remaining actively involved in hands-on nursing, emergency care, admissions, monitoring and patient discharge.
  • Make a real impact - help shape clinical standards, protocols and patient care while contributing to audits, quality improvement and clinical governance.
  • Develop and inspire the team - mentor, coach and support RVNs, SVNs and PCAs, helping colleagues build their confidence, skills and clinical knowledge.
  • Invest in a long-term career - benefit from £1,000 CPD allowance, 3 days paid CPD leave, support towards certificate qualifications, RCVS and VDS fees paid, plus a range of additional benefits.
About the Role

As Clinical Lead RVN, the successful candidate will be a senior clinical point of contact within the practice, helping to coordinate the team and ensure the smooth running of each day.

The position combines hands-on veterinary nursing with clinical leadership, providing plenty of variety and the opportunity to make a genuine difference to both patient care and the wider team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supporting the nursing and clinical teams during allocated shifts.
  • Coordinating patients, workloads and clinical resources.
  • Working closely with veterinary surgeons, RVNs, SVNs and Patient Care Assistants.
  • Providing excellent, compassionate and safe patient care.
  • Supporting emergency and critical care cases.
  • Developing and reviewing nursing care plans.
  • Maintaining high standards of clinical nursing and infection control.
  • Supporting medicines management and practice protocols.
  • Mentoring, coaching and developing colleagues.
  • Supporting new team members through induction and onboarding.
  • Encouraging CPD, evidence-based nursing and knowledge sharing.
  • Supporting clinical audits, quality improvement and governance.
  • Contributing to clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Acting as a positive role model for professionalism, teamwork and clinical excellence.
About the Ideal Candidate

The practice is looking for an RVN who is confident clinically, enjoys supporting others and is ready to take the next step in their career.

Experience in clinical coaching, advanced nursing, quality improvement or referral/hospital nursing would be advantageous, although experienced RVNs ready to progress into a leadership role are also encouraged to apply.

What's on Offer
  • £36,000-£38,000 per annum
  • 4-day working week
  • Saturday rota
  • £1,000 genuine CPD allowance per year
  • 3 days paid CPD leave
  • Support towards certificate qualifications
  • VDS fees paid
  • RCVS registration fees paid
  • Birthday leave
  • Paid lunch breaks
  • Gym membership
  • Free uniform
  • Free on-site parking
  • Discounted treatment for personal pets
  • Company pension
  • Enhanced maternity leave
  • Death in Service benefit
  • Annual loyalty bonus after 3 years
  • 28 days annual leave including bank holidays, plus birthday off

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RVN who wants to lead, develop and influence a clinical team without stepping away from the nursing they love
.

The practice is looking for someone who wants to be part of the team, not simply manage it, with approachable leadership, teamwork and high-quality patient care at the heart of the role.

We offer £250
* for every successful candidate referral.
* Terms and conditions apply.
