We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement.

Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness they’re likely to die from.

The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life.

Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end-of-life.

We want a different society than the one we live in now. Our mission for the next five years is to close the gap in the number of people missing out on what they need at the end-of-life, through 3 ways:

• Delivering more practical information and support
• Leading in shaping the end-of-life experience

We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse to join our Cardiff & the Vale Hospice IPU Team in Penarth.

You’ll be part of a supportive team that truly cares about you and your development.

Using a patient-centred approach and evidenced based practice, assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care and co-ordinate care from admission to discharge. You will be expected to administer medication and treatment as prescribed in accordance with the NMC’s and the Charity’s policies and guidelines. You will also provide emotional, psychological and spiritual support for patients and carers.

We will consider applications from newly qualified nurses with a genuine passion for end-of-life care and a foundation of skills and experience that could potentially be supported into the role.

Salary:Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 5 (aligned with AFC) £32,557 - £39,631 per annum + enhancements

Contract: Permanent, part time hours - 23 hours per week. Must be available for days, night and weekend shifts.

What we’re looking for:

• Palliative Experience
• Ability to demonstrate an understanding of palliative care and the needs of patients with complex symptoms as well as at end of life
• Forward thinking with excellent communication skills
• Welsh speaking is desirable but not essential
