Location:
South Wales (Office & Field Based)
Rate: £17.54 per hour
Hours:
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract:
Fixed-Term Contract until 31st March 2027
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join a well-established organisation in South Wales on a fixed-term contract through to March 2027.
This is a varied role combining office and site-based activities, supporting operational teams working in field environments involving power tools, heavy machinery, excavation works and other high-risk activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring health, safety and wellbeing standards are maintained, monitored and continuously improved across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Review and update health and safety policies, procedures and documentation to ensure compliance with current legislation.
Undertake reviews of existing risk assessments and method statements, ensuring they remain effective and fit for purpose.
Monitor and supervise work activities to ensure safe working practices are being followed.
Provide guidance and support to managers and operational teams on health and safety matters.
Conduct site visits and inspections across various field-based locations.
Identify opportunities to improve health, safety and wellbeing practices and documentation.
Support incident investigations and recommend corrective actions where required.
Work closely with internal stakeholders to promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation.
Maintain accurate records and reports relating to health and safety performance.
About You
Relevant Health & Safety qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent).
A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across sites in South Wales.
Previous experience within a Health & Safety role, ideally supporting operational, construction, utilities, engineering or field-based environments.
Strong working knowledge of current UK Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
Experience compiling and reviewing risk assessments and method statements.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
The ability to influence and engage with colleagues at all levels.
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
