Cardiff University Food are looking for Student Chefs to work events on Cardiff University Campus.
You will be working in a fast-paced food van, preparing food & serving customers. The food vans serve burgers, toasties & pre-prepared hot food options.
You would need to be available for the majority of the below dates,
please clearly state which of the below dates you are available to work in your application :
- 22nd April (TBC) - 8am-4pm
- 26th & 27th June (University Open Day) - 8am-4:30pm each day
- 12th through to 17th July (University Graduation) - prep day 12th to be decided - then 8:30am to 4:30pm each day and potentially up to 10:30pm on the Friday 17th
- 12th September (University Open Day) - 8am-4:30pm
- 17th October (University Open Day) - 8am-4:30pm
- To maintain excellent quality of food preparation and customer service at all times with the aim to exceed customer expectations.
- To usea griddle and frier to prepare food.
- To prepare food in a safe manner and adhere to food hygiene policy and legislation, t o adhere to all Environment Health legislation
- To be aware of the current menus and recipe specifications.
- To ensure that all parts of the food preparation & storage areas are clean and tidy at all times.
- To be responsible for your own Health & Safety and observe all regulations in relation to the Health & Safety at Work Act.
- To be proactive in your approach to all tasks and duties undertaken and to adhere to all company policies and procedures
- To carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by supervisors.
- Help create a positive work environment for all staff.
- To undertake any training which is required to undertake the role e.g. Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene.
- Previous experience working as a chef, or in a fast-paced food preparation environment is essential for this role,
- Ability to work in a high-pressure kitchen environment, and fulfil orders quickly and efficiently,
- Ability to keep a clean, tidy and organised work environment,
- Experience working on a till,
- Must adhere to all uniform requirements on shift including: no piercings to be worn, no fake nails, no nail varnish, long hair tied back, no jewellery to be worn, no strong perfumes/aftershaves, sensible non-slip footwear must be worn.
- You must already have a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate, or be willing to complete this ahead of work.
