We are looking for an experienced and successful Business Development Director to join as a senior member of our Sales & Marketing team.
The RoleReporting to our Chief Commercial Officer the role is integral to our ongoing growth plans as the successful applicant will hold full responsibility for driving new business generation (primarily in the UK) such that we achieve our revenue and customer acquisition targets.
It is essential therefore that the successful candidate is highly motivated, a proven self‑starter and talented hunter completely comfortable holding C‑level conversations and equally proficient at working independently or as part of a wider bid team in pursuing the winning of new customer business.
We are happy to consider UK applicants who have at least 5 years proven track record in travel technology sales who would consider a remote hybrid or office based working pattern.
Responsibilities- Achieve business growth to meet your own quota through the closing of new name new business sales opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date sales data to support effective sales forecasting and sales funnel metrics to allow effective performance management.
- Work closely with the CCO to design, embed and lead sales strategies and programmes to support the new business growth quota.
- Follow our sales process and deliver correctly qualified new business wins that follow our pricing strategy and yield profitable growth.
- Work closely with the CCO to identify and enter new markets and business opportunities to expand our customer base.
- Proactively identify, pursue and secure high‑potential prospects to build a strong and qualified new business pipeline.
- Full responsibility for the end‑to‑end RFI and RFP process to deliver winning responses to formal tender requests.
- At least 5 years demonstrated new business experience identifying, pitching and closing new business.
- Comfort in engaging with, communicating to and influencing C‑level and executive stakeholders.
- Someone who is ambitious, proactive, keen to learn, grow and progress; apt to assume more significant responsibilities over time.
- Motivated by their target/s quota and a focused and result‑oriented mentality that drives them to exceed them.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely – even on complex, technical or strategic topics.
- Ability to listen to documents and understand customer requirements/objectives to support the most relevant presentation of our value proposition.
- Ability to plan and manage time effectively at both strategic and operational levels, particularly in being disciplined on tasks related to prospecting and pipeline building.
- Proven at consistently keeping on top of their sales administration and sales funnel management duties and experience of using a CRM in this context.
- Real enjoyment and understanding of technology, a passion for how it can add value to our customers and the experience of communicating the business benefits it brings.
- Take full ownership of the sales cycle – learning to demo our products themselves but also knowing when to bring in colleagues to maximise success.
- Proven track record of running successful RFI and RFP processes in formal tender procedures to win new customers.
- Entrepreneurial in nature, always seeking out opportunity and able to negotiate and shape heads of terms that align to our pricing and sales policies.
- A willingness to contribute to the continuous improvement of our sales systems, processes and tooling.
- English proficient (other languages a bonus!) flexibility and willingness to travel and spend time away from base.
