Role Purpose
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing and winning new business opportunities across the UK's corporate landscape, with a particular focus on industrial organisations.
Working closely with marketing, bid, operations and account management teams, the Business Development Manager will develop strategic relationships with decision-makers, understand customer challenges around water, wastewater and sustainability, and position their business as the partner of choice.
The CompanyThe UK's largest water retailer, they are the trusted partner for over 350k customer accounts across England and Scotland. From small businesses to large enterprises, they support organisations of all sizes and sectors with reliable, efficient water account management, eg:
Billing, Payments, Meter Readings, Moving Premises and Water Efficiency.
New Business Development
- Identify, target and secure new customers across Corporate and Industrial sectors.
- Develop and execute territory and account growth plans aligned to commercial objectives.
- Generate a robust pipeline of opportunities through prospecting, networking, industry events, referrals and strategic partnerships.
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to contract negotiation and closure.
- Deliver and exceed agreed revenue, margin and customer acquisition targets.
- Build relationships with senior stakeholders/decision makers
- Create compelling value propositions that demonstrate commercial, operational and environmental benefits
- Maintain detailed account plans for key target organisations
- Understand customer operational requirements and identify opportunities for water, wastewater and efficiency solutions

Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Proven track record of winning and developing new business in a Water, Utilities, Energy or Environmental services sectors (preferred)
- Experience of solutions selling into larger corporates/industrial organisations
- Demonstrable success in achieving and exceeding sales targets
- Strong commercial negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to engage with senior decision-makers and stakeholders.
- Experience managing complex sales cycles and tender processes.
- Excellent presentation, communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong pipeline management and forecasting capability.
- Results-driven and highly motivated
