CKB Recruitment is working with a growing insurance broking group to recruit a Business Development Executive for its central Cardiff office.

This is an opportunity to develop valuable sales skills, learn the insurance industry and build a long-term career with a business that actively looks to promote from within.

You might already work in sales, customer service, retail or hospitality and be ready for a new direction. Or perhaps you’re looking for your first opportunity in a professional sales environment. Either way, you’ll need enthusiasm, a confident telephone manner and a willingness to learn.

You’ll join an established broker supporting more than 8,000 corporate, commercial and personal clients across the UK. The firm holds Chartered Insurance Broker status, recognising its commitment to professional standards and client service.

You’ll help the sales team create new business opportunities by introducing the broker’s services to prospective clients and starting conversations about their insurance needs.

• Contacting potential clients by telephone, email and other communication channels.
• Building rapport, explaining the broker’s services and identifying opportunities for further discussion.
• Obtaining client authority forms so brokers can progress discussions about prospective clients’ insurance arrangements.
• Working closely with the broking team to help turn initial interest into new client opportunities.
• Keeping accurate records of conversations, outcomes and follow-up activity.
• Organising your workload to ensure promising opportunities receive timely attention.

You don’t need previous insurance experience. We’re looking for someone who brings:

• A friendly, professional and confident telephone manner.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport.
• The motivation to make proactive calls and start conversations with new people.
• Resilience, a positive attitude and an interest in sales.
• Good organisational skills and confidence using IT systems.
• A desire to learn, develop and progress within the business.
• Previous sales or telephone-based customer service experience could be useful, but your approach and willingness to learn are just as important.

• £26,000–£28,000 basic salary, plus bonuses.
• On-target earnings of £29,000–£32,000+.
