Job Overview
At WSP, the Ecology team delivers ecological advice and project support across the UK. The role offers opportunities to develop core ecological, project management and consultancy skills while influencing the wider ecology industry.
Responsibilities- Provide technical advice and planning for ecology surveys including Phase 1 habitat/UKHab and protected species surveys.
- Prepare tenders and suites of habitat, botanical and protected species surveys for a range of schemes.
- Contribute to ecological deliverables such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Management Plans, Protected Species Reports, European Protected Species licence applications, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), biodiversity chapters of EIAs and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA).
- Manage client liaison and project timelines.
- Mentor and train members of the wider ecology team.
- Academic qualification in a related discipline and membership (or eligibility for membership) of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.
- Protected species licence(s) and specialist ecological skills relevant to consulting.
- Experience conducting extended Phase 1 habitat/UKHab and protected species surveys.
- Experience in tender preparation and ecological report production.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an ecology and environmental team.
- Knowledge of relevant wildlife legislation and ecological survey methodologies.
- Desirable: authoring Ecological Impact Assessments.
