Consulting Associate – Contaminated Land & Remediation (Entry Level)
Join ERM as a Contaminated Land & Remediation Consulting Associate, working with the Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation (LPMR) team in the UK.
As a hands‑on associate, you will work on site investigation and remediation projects across the region, gaining increasing responsibility for task and project management.
This role is largely field‑based, requiring frequent travel to client sites. You will develop experience with the latest investigation and remediation technologies and progress toward professional registration.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise contractors and conduct routine monitoring during site investigations.
- Perform field work, including walkovers, logging soils, soil and groundwater sampling, and supervising on‑site contractors.
- Provide office support: data analysis, manipulation, presentation, and reporting.
- Produce environmental desk studies, site investigation, and verification reports.
- Assist in fee proposal preparation for future work.
- You will receive training to manage small to medium‑sized projects, including financial management.
- Willingness to work outdoors and travel regularly to client sites.
- Experience supporting investigation, risk assessment, or environmental assessment work, preferably in an environmental or water consultancy.
- Experience on active industrial sites with advanced safety cultures or remote locations.
- Degree in environmental sciences, hydrogeology, geology, geochemistry, or chemistry; consideration for non‑degree qualified with relevant work experience.
- Passion for building a career in the environmental sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative problem‑solving with limited data, and ability to simulate uncertainty.
- Strong initiative, independence, and willingness to seek assistance.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
- Effective contingency planning and innovative, practical solutions.
- Commitment to personal development and pride in accurate, timely delivery.
- Collaborative, positive relationship building with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
- Full UK driving licence.
