Job Overview
We are looking for an Area Security Supervisor based in Wales, overseeing Team Leaders and operational staff within Wales & South England. The role involves providing 24/7 security response and guarding to sites, taking command and control of major/critical incidents at operational or tactical level, managing and developing the team, creating and implementing operational and emergency procedures, and acting as the key interface between security and other internal/external teams and partners.
Key Responsibilities- Responsible for the operation and continual development of the security staff within their region.
- First management point of contact for any security incidents.
- Ensure KPI's are met and in line with client expectations.
- Maintain current and up-to-date procedures for security staff.
- Manage shift patterns, authorise and plan staff leave, and manage sickness absence.
- Conduct performance development reviews and team meetings.
- Assist with recruitment and retention of security staff.
- Develop contingency and emergency plans for all operational sites.
- Implement new systems on behalf of the BBC, organising in‑house workshops.
- Monitor and analyse all relevant reports and briefing documents.
- Prepare and distribute management reports to SLT and client.
- Proactively suggest continuous improvement measures.
- Maintain accurate records of accidents, incidents or near misses and site restrictions/hazard identification.
- Ensure online site inductions and safety documentation are current for each site.
- Contribute to operations and maintenance activities that meet health, safety and environment best practice.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks directed by the SLT.
- Previous experience of line managing a team; hold a valid SIA Security Licence.
- Clear and confident communicator, both verbally and in writing.
- Willingness to work shift work/non‑routine hours including weekends.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience of incident management within an operational environment.
- Willingness to undertake continuous personal development.
- Health and safety qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely) or experience (desirable).
- Proven ability to quickly learn and adhere to new processes and procedures (desirable).
- Experience or qualification in delivery of training (desirable).
- Contributes to a positive team environment (desirable).
- Drive, enthusiasm and self‑motivation (desirable).
The role is fixed Monday to Friday with occasional weekend on‑call duties. Occasional out‑of‑hours visits to various sites and on‑call role at weekends on a rota basis may be required. Contractual working hours are 45 hours per week; occasional travel to other sites nationally is possible.
ReportingThe Area Security Supervisor reports to the Area Security Manager.
