Social Work Assistant; Temporary

Position: Social Work Assistant (Temporary)
We are recruiting a Children's Social Work Assistant to support Children's Services in Cardiff.

You will hold a small protected caseload and support social workers in assessing need, managing risk, and safeguarding vulnerable children and families. This role involves direct work with children, supporting families in crisis, and contributing to high-quality, strength-based practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Support assessments, care planning, and direct work with children and their families.

Hold a small protected caseload, responding to needs, risks, and urgent situations.

Complete clear written assessments, reports, safety plans, and referrals.

Assist social workers on visits, Section 47 enquiries, and multi-agency meetings.

Supervise family contact and transport children/families to appointments when required.

Work collaboratively with partner agencies and provide essential admin and duty rota support.

Key Requirements:

Experience working with children, families, or vulnerable people

Strong communication skills and ability to maintain accurate written records.

Ability to manage sensitive situations and assess risk.

Understanding of safeguarding and willingness to follow statutory guidance.

Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-agency team.

Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
Flexibility to work across various locations within Cardiff.
Contract Length: 3-6 months with a view to extend to an ongoing contract.
Pay Rate: £16-£21 (Negotiable DOE)
Working pattern - 37 hours per week
