Position: TRAINING OFFICER

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Training Officer to join the Care First/Eclipse Team within Adult Services.

Eclipse is our newly implemented electronic Social Care system, replacing Care First across Adult, Housing & Communities and Children’s Services. The platform will be continuously evolving, with an active programme of development to meet the changing needs of social care delivery.

Our team plays a vital role in ensuring staff can use the system confidently and effectively. Providing high‑quality support to end users is at the heart of the Care First/Eclipse service, helping colleagues across the organisation deliver safe, responsive, and informed care.

About the job

This pivotal role will support the rollout of the new Eclipse system by delivering high‑quality training to Adult Services and Independent Living Services (ILS) staff. Providing feedback to staff in a positive constructive manner and making suggestions for improvement.

Helping to maintain the Eclipse training database.

Independently develop and deliver training courses as required to ensure required support is provided.

Reporting regularly to managers on the outcomes of additional training for staff members and quality checking for statistical purposes by way of performance reviews and reporting findings.

Communicating with customers, Members and other stakeholders in writing, by telephone, in person in the office and visiting customers in their homes as required.

Assist and deputise for the Team Manager when required.

Attending meetings as required.

Training will be delivered through a range of methods, including classroom-based sessions, one‑to‑one bespoke training, and onsite support directly to teams.

What We Are Looking For From You
  • The successful candidate will play a key part in developing and updating training materials, supporting course delivery, and working collaboratively with the wider Care First/Eclipse Team.
  • Previous experience, knowledge and understanding of Social Care and Housing Legislation.
  • Experience of planning, developing and delivering training/training guides and personal improvement plans
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and within challenging timescales.
  • The ability to support and identify development needs and implement ways to meet such needs.
  • The ability to speak other languages, in particular Welsh, and Community Languages would be an advantage.
Additional information

This post is temporary until 31 st March 2027 and is for 37 hours per week.

Internal candidates who wish to apply for this position on a secondment basis must obtain approval prior to application using Form SEC1 (4.C.081). Requests may only be approved by the relevant Director/ Assistant Director/ Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of school-based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body.
