About The Job

This role supports children and young people through robust assessment, outcome‑focused planning and effective intervention within the Cardiff Social Work teams. Working in partnership with families and multi‑agency colleagues, you will employ a restorative practice approach to address both presenting concerns and underlying difficulties, ultimately helping families achieve positive outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments and develop care plans for children and young people.
  • Manage case loads and produce concise reports and records.
  • Work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Collaborate with families, social services, the courts and other agencies.
  • Participate in safeguarding and child protection reviews.
  • Support the Graded 7 pathway by demonstrating higher‑level skills during the interview process.
Qualifications
  • Full qualification in Social Work (Degree or equivalent).
  • Robust safeguarding and child protection experience, including court proceedings.
  • Front‑line, post‑qualifying experience in child protection services.
  • Excellent assessment, record‑keeping, communication and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of IT systems.
  • Registered with Social Care Wales and subject to Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced checks.
