Position: SUPPORTED ACCOMMODATION NIGHT OFFICER - Young People

Cardiff Council’s Supported Accommodation and Assessment Service provides accommodation, advice and support to vulnerable single people, families and young people experiencing housing need.

Services operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

About the job

Our Young People’s Supported Accommodation Service provides safe and supportive housing for young people aged 16–21 who are experiencing homelessness.

We operate across several locations within the city and place a strong focus on empowerment, stability and positive futures.

As a Night Supported Accommodation Officer, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality support and oversight during out‑of‑hours periods. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the safety, wellbeing, and stability of both the young people and the accommodation environment overnight.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are seeking motivated and proactive individuals with the ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships.

This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference, and applications are welcomed from candidates with a range of professional backgrounds.

Experience of working with individuals who present complex behaviours, and an understanding of the challenges faced by homeless people and/or young people, would be advantageous.

Applicants should have experience of working directly with customers and demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality services. Strong communication, administrative and IT skills are essential, along with the ability to manage and resolve disputes constructively.

The ability to speak a community language would be an advantage.
