Position: SENIOR DAY SERVICE OFFICER

Cardiff Day Service supports adults with learning disabilities who have complex support needs to achieve meaningful outcomes, develop skills and access opportunities within their local communities.

We are expanding our service and establishing a new fifth team to support people with significant behaviours of concern. The team will work within a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework, promoting quality of life, positive outcomes and least restrictive practice.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and lead a specialist area of the service.

About the job

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our Day Service Team as a Senior Day Service Officer.

Working alongside the Day Service Manager/ Deputy Manager, you will take a lead role in overseeing our new specialist team, ensuring high-quality, person-centred support is delivered consistently and effectively.

The successful candidate will undertake specialist training to become a Positive Behaviour Management (PBM) trainer and will provide day-to-day behavioural guidance, coaching and support to staff, helping to embed PBS principles throughout the team.

You will be expected to:

  • Lead and oversee a designated area of the Day Service.
  • Support the development of the new specialist team.
  • Promote and embed Positive Behaviour Support approaches.
  • Deliver behavioural guidance, coaching and support to staff.
  • Undertake PBM trainer training and deliver training to colleagues.
  • Monitor and review services to ensure agreed outcomes are achieved.
  • Supervise staff and contribute to the Personal Performance and Development Review process.
  • Undertake risk assessments and contribute to service risk management.
  • Support the day-to-day operation of the Day Service.

You will have:

  • Experience of leading and managing a social care team.
  • Experience of supporting people with complex needs and behaviours of concern.
  • A good understanding of person-centred practice and Positive Behaviour Support.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • A commitment to staff development and positive practice.
  • Flexibility, resilience and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • A belief that people with learning disabilities should have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and play an active role in their communities.
