Welsh Development Manager
Cardiff | 22 Hours per Week (3 Days) | 12-Month Temporary Contract | £24,138 - £26,259 Pro Rata
Are you a passionate Welsh speaker who is committed to promoting the Welsh language and culture across education and training? Aspire People are recruiting on behalf of a leading training provider in Cardiff for a Welsh Development Manager to provide maternity cover for an exciting 12-month opportunity.
This role offers the chance to lead Welsh language initiatives across a large education network, influencing strategy, supporting quality improvement and helping learners and staff embrace the Welsh language and culture. It would suit an experienced Welsh development professional, quality improvement practitioner, trainer, lecturer or project manager with a strong understanding of Welsh language legislation and the education sector.

The Role
  • Lead the implementation of Welsh Language Strategy and Welsh Language Policy objectives.
  • Promote the development of Welsh language skills and Welsh culture across the organisation.
  • Coordinate Welsh language activities and initiatives with staff, learners and partner providers.
  • Deliver training, support and guidance to colleagues on embedding Welsh throughout the learner journey.
  • Develop innovative projects and engagement activities to encourage the use of Welsh.
  • Monitor Welsh language performance, analyse data and report on progress against key targets and KPIs.
  • Manage translation requests and support the development of bilingual resources.
  • Work collaboratively with external organisations including Welsh Government, Estyn, Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and the National Centre for Learning Welsh.
  • Contribute to Self-Assessment Reports, Quality Development Plans and continuous improvement activities.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Fluent Welsh speaker with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a Welsh development role within education or training.
  • Experience developing and implementing Welsh language initiatives and strategies.
  • Strong understanding of Welsh language legislation and the Welsh education landscape.
  • Experience analysing data and producing reports to support quality improvement.
  • Knowledge of Self-Assessment Reports (SARs) and Quality Development Plans (QDPs).
  • Strong organisational, planning and project management skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
