Position: ARC - SENIOR SUPPORT WORKER

Cardiff Council and the Vale of Glamorgan Council are working together to provide an innovative Adolescent Resource Centre (ARC) / Edge of Care Service for 11-17 year olds.

Taking a strength based and trauma informed approach, our aim is to work co-productively with families to improve relationships and enable young people to remain living within their family home.

The ARC is a Regional Edge of Care Service, which operates across two locations across Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan.

About the job
  • As part of this Regional Service, you will be working within an experienced team providing flexible and responsive care packages of respite, intervention, outreach and family support.
  • You will be working with young people across the region in the community, at their homes and at our centres at a time of need delivering positive outcomes.
  • You will provide structured, evidence-based interventions enabling families to develop problem solving skills, resilience and achieve positive change.
  • You, and the team will provide a rapid response to children and families in crisis, enabling them to address and overcome the difficulties that have led to the family being at risk of breakdown, and prevent further escalation.
What We Are Looking For From You

What is most important is creativity and flexibility in your approach to young people and their families using a strengths based, person centred approach.

As a Senior Support Worker at the ARC, team work is essential, you will have a Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent in teaching, nursing or youth work.

You will have experience working with adolescents and families at times of need. It is essential that you have supervisory/mentoring experience and are able to work flexibly to include evenings and weekends.
