Job

We are looking for an embedded engineer with firmware development and debugging skills for our design center in Cardiff. Working in versatile Agile teams, the candidate will be involved in product design and sustaining activities on a range of PACS RFID access control products. The role requires effective time management across multiple products at different stages of the life cycle and collaboration with colleagues across departments, both onsite and overseas.

Occasional travel may be required.

Physical Access Control Solutions (PACS)

Essential Duties
  • Implement embedded firmware designs and test solutions primarily in C and C#.
  • Create design documentation.
  • Hands‑on debugging of embedded systems.
  • Complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Required Knowledge/Experience
  • Write low‑to‑medium complexity code solutions.
  • Experience with embedded C, bare metal, and RTOS applications.
  • Proficiency with standard development tools: debuggers, editors, compilers.
  • Comfortable working at low level (GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C).
  • Experience with software version control.
Additional Beneficial Skills/Experience
  • Smart Card ISO
    7816 and RFID ISO 14443/15693 protocols.
  • Cryptographic solution implementation.
  • I2C and SPI protocols.
  • Jenkins automation server/client programming.
  • NUnit test framework.
  • Scripting languages such as Python.
  • CMock unit testing.
Essential Qualifications
  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of related industry experience.
Work Requirements
  • Compliance with all HID Global policies and procedures related to Quality, Security, Safety, Business Continuity, and Environmental systems.
  • Travel and fieldwork, including international travel may be required; a valid passport is necessary.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the hiring country.
