Role Description

The Van Driver role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Cardiff Area. The driver is responsible for safely operating company vans to transport goods and materials between customer locations, depots, and other sites as scheduled. Day-to-day tasks include loading and unloading vehicles, checking delivery documentation, planning efficient routes, and ensuring timely deliveries and collections. The role involves conducting basic vehicle safety checks, maintaining cleanliness of the van, following company and legal safety standards, and reporting any incidents or maintenance needs.

The Van Driver also interacts with customers and colleagues, providing professional, courteous service and accurate delivery information.

Qualifications
  • Valid UK driving license appropriate for van driving and a strong record of safe, responsible driving.
  • Experience in delivery driving, courier work, or similar transport roles, with good local area route knowledge around Greater Cardiff.
  • Ability to handle manual lifting, loading, and unloading, and to follow health and safety procedures.
  • Strong time management, reliability, and punctuality, with the ability to meet delivery schedules and work to deadlines.
  • Clear communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues, and accurate completion of delivery paperwork.
  • Basic vehicle care skills, including performing simple checks (fuel, tyres, lights) and reporting issues promptly.
  • Comfort working independently, as well as cooperating with dispatch, warehouse, and service teams.
  • Prior experience in transportation, trucking, or logistics is beneficial; knowledge of transport regulations is an advantage.
