To supervise the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring vehicles, drivers and transport activities are managed safely, efficiently and in line with company procedures. The role supports the Transport Operations Manager and helps deliver excellent service to customers. Our client is a third-party provider of transportation and logistics services, offering a range of services including drayage, global freight forwarding, and full truckload transport.
The company is committed to environmental sustainability and works closely with customers to develop action plans that help reduce emissions.
- Supervise the daily transport operation and support the Transport Operations Manager.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and investigate incidents where required.
- Coordinate vehicle servicing, maintenance, MOTs and defect management.
- Manage and support drivers, including daily communication, performance and compliance.
- Monitor drivers'' hours, tachograph compliance and training requirements.
- Manage driver holidays, sickness, payroll timesheets and agency driver requirements.
- Support recruitment, inductions and ongoing driver development.
- Liaise with customers, planners and third-party contractors to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain accurate transport, compliance and operational records.
- Deputise for the Transport Operations Manager when required.
- Previous experience in a transport, logistics or fleet supervisory role.
- Good knowledge of transport legislation, driver hours and tachograph regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and work under pressure.
- Experience using transport management and compliance systems is desirable.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.
- A proactive approach to health and safety.
- Full UK driving licence (desirable).
- Competitive Pay: £17.06 per hour.
