Are you passionate about supporting children’s learning and helping them achieve their potential? Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi is seeking a dedicated and experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our team from 01/09/2026 for a period of one year to support and deliver learning. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in the classroom, support teachers, and help pupils thrive.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist support to pupils, including those with additional needs, ensuring safety and access to learning activities.
  • Use your skills, training, and experience to support individual pupils or groups.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education and Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes.
  • Build productive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
  • Promote inclusion, independence, self-esteem, and positive behaviour.
  • Work with teachers to plan, deliver, and evaluate lessons, adapting activities to meet pupils’ needs.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to record-keeping.
  • Support wider school activities, including trips, extracurricular events, and out‑of‑classroom learning.
  • Supervise whole classes during short‑term teacher absences as required.
Qualifications
  • Experience of working with children of the relevant age.
  • Holds NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Training in relevant learning strategies or specialist areas, such as literacy, numeracy, bilingual support, ICT, dyslexia, or CACHE.
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills and appropriate first aid training.
  • Can use ICT and other technology effectively to support learning.
  • Understands child development, learning processes, and the principles of inclusion.
  • Is flexible, positive, and able to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Is confident in supporting, guiding, and training other staff as required.
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding, inclusion, and teamwork.
